There have been multiple studies done on the effects of black pepper/fat with curcumin and results show that black pepper does not help with absorbtion. It may increase the effects of Curcumin because of the compound, piperine, in the black pepper which inhibits the metabolic breakdown of turmeric/curcumin compounds in the gut and the liver. Fat however does help with absorbtion which is why we suggest taking the soft gel with a meal containing fats and/or oils.
